LIGHTHOLE
Monthly Multimedia Works Showcase and Journal
ABOUT
Technological advancements go hand in hand with developments in gender, identity, race, nationality, culture, and politics – to mention just a few. In fact, technology – from agriculture to chemistry – has always been an intrinsic component of the human experience, allowing us to survive on this planet, commit unforgettable atrocities, re-configure our bodies, and redefine ourselves.
Curated by Baltimore-based artist and organizer Victor F. De M. Torres, LIGHTHOLE – a monthly showcase in Baltimore, Maryland, for new media/intermedia/interdisciplinary artists – is designed as a snapshot of human perception, connecting ancient concepts to contemporary discoveries through the insightful lens of visual culture.
Our aim is to establish a destination in Baltimore for artworks that incorporate technology either through video, sound, or the body. We also see LIGHTHOLE as a resource, providing a safe space for the representation of humans of non-normative self-identifications.
LIGHTHOLE is simultaneously a print journal of new media art, focused mainly on contributions by artists who have a passion for expanding visual, sonic, bodily as well as literary representations.
